* If you are interested in playing, please put your names up on the list (list will be up in the club house as of Monday evening – 18th May).
* Or you can email Barbara or Georgina (barbara.cavanagh@ntlworld.com / georginasimpson@btconnect.com).
* The tournament will be open to the first 20 people who respond, with two reserves.
* Cost: £2 per person.
* Play will start at 1pm, so please be at the club house by 12.30 so that we can divide you into groups.
* The barbecue will start around 4pm. It is a bring-your-own barbecue, so please bring along something to cook (there will obviously be no charge!).
* If members not entering the tournament are wanting to play – it may make sense to come down outside the tournament times, to guarantee a game (only courts 6 and 7 will be available for non-tournament play from 1 – 4 pm).
Thanks and hear from you soon!

American Tournament Rules:
Ø Each player will be placed into one of 2 groups, i.e. Group X and Group Y.
Ø 1 player from Group X will play with 1 player from Group Y, and pairs will be drawn out of a hat. Players from Group X can ONLY play with players from Group Y.
Ø Once all pairings have been drawn, the first 2 pairs out of the hat will go on to court 1 and play against the 2nd pair out of the hat, etc., and play 4 games against each other, so the result could be 4-0, 3-1 or 2-2.
Ø The winners stay on the same court BUT split up. (If the score is 2-2 then a sudden death point is played to decide who stays on the court as winners.) Losers will move to the next court (court 2) and split up, but still with the formation X + Y.
Ø The tournament referees (Georgina and Barbara) keep a score sheet of each player’s results, so each player must report back to the referees after each match.
Ø The top 2 players from each of the groups will play in the final. The winner of group X will play with the runner-up of group Y, and vice versa. The final will be the first to win a set (tie-break at 6-6).
Ø The tournament referees” decision on any matter is FINAL
